If the Olympics gave medals for fun personalities and positive vibes, Margielyn Didal would be a perennial podium finisher. At the recent Tokyo 2020 Olympics, the skateboarder from Cebu charmed the world with her radiant smile, beaming all the way even as she sprained her ankle in an attempt to land a trick or finished seventh overall.
Netizens couldn’t get enough of the spunky skateboarder, who photobombed at every opportunity. She also managed to make a posterity shot with legendary skateboarder Tony Hawk hilarious with the caption “This guy asked me to take a photo with him and I let him because he looks like Tony Hawk.”
Back home, Margie gave us reason to keep smiling with her recent Facebook live selling of pre-loved apparel. Among the items she sold on social media were her orange shirt, New Balance top, and long-sleeved top with the colorful Keith Haring graphic print. Who wouldn’t want to own a little something from the 2018 Asian Games gold medalist and 2019 Southeast Asian Games gold medalist? “Will be using the money for feeding program sa mga street kids and homeless,” she said. Margie has done it before. A July 6, 2020 Instagram video shows her packing biscuits and cartons of juice in paper bags, as well as printouts of activity sheets and pencils to keep kids 8 years old and below preoccupied while on lockdown. In an Instagram post dated March 29, 2019, she served pancit, sandwiches, hotdogs, and juice in a feeding program for street kids. “Just another day to spread good vibes and they give back smiles,” she posted. So, did the Olympian make good on her plan to host a feeding program with the money she earned from selling pre-loved clothing? Check her out making lumpiang Shanghai here.
God bless you, Margie!
