After the miraculous victory of Christians against the Turks’ invasion on October 7, 157, Pope Pius V called for the people to pray the rosary for victory and led a rosary procession in Rome. He dedicated the day as one of thanksgiving to Our Lady of Victory. Then, Pope Gregory XIII changed the name to the feast of Our Lady of the Rosary.
