‘Lalaban Ako, Lalaban Tayo’: VP Leni Robredo To Run For President In 2022 Elections

Vice President (VP) Leni Robredo announced her presidential bid for the 2022 national elections during her speech today, October 7, in her office at the Quezon City Reception House.

“Buong-buo ang loob ko ngayon. Tinatanggap ko ang hamon na tumakbo,” she said in her speech. Opposition coalition group 1Sambayan endorsed Robredo as its presidential candidate for the 2022 national elections.

Days before her announcement, VP spokesperson Barry Gutierrez told the public to be patient as Robredo earlier said that she will announce her decision before October 8, which is the last day of the certificate of candidacy (COC) filing. (Read: 3 Instances Where Leni Robredo Stood up to Fake News Attacks)

Clean governance

In her speech today, Robredo questioned the billions of budget and expressed her determination to put an end to the personal interest and agenda of politicians that have caused the country to suffer.

The Vice President promised to defeat the incompetent and bad governance and bring change for the Filipinos and the country. (Read: Robredo Denounces Rising Cases of Asian Hate Crimes in the US)

Pandemic projects

Robredo also mentioned her ongoing pandemic projects despite the low budget.

Aside from the fundraising campaigns and donation drives, among her pandemic projects are the free shuttle service for healthcare workers, Swab Cab, Bayanhina E-Konsulta, Bayanihan E-skwela, and more. (Read: Leni Robredo Rolls Out Job Platform to Help Unemployed Filipinos)

Robredo is set to file her candidacy for the presidency today at 3 p.m.
