On October 4, Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, the Vatican’s 40-day prayer campaign for the Laudato si’ goals officially began. From October 4 until November 14, the prayer campaign will support each of the seven sectors of the Laudato Si Action Platform. The last day of the prayer campaign also marks the World Day of Prayer for the Poor.
Living Laudato Si’ Philippines (LLS), a Philippines-based interfaith movement launched by Catholic lay people, will be a co-leader of the said prayer campaign by the Vatican Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development. After the campaign ends on November 14, the next phase of the Laudato Si Action Platform. On the day, the “Laudato Si’ Planning Guides and all related materials will be published, and members of the universal Church will be invited to make a firm commitment to creating their own Laudato Si’ Plans.”
Laudato si’
Laudato si’ is Pope Francis’s 2015 encyclical that discusses issues about our environment, and how we can care for it. It covers environmental issues such as global warming and climate change, pollution, loss of biodiversity, decline of human life, global inequality, and many more.
It then what we can do and how we can properly respond to these issues, especially now that technology is evolving. In the encyclical, the Holy Father also teaches us why we have to take care of our environment and how we can improve our lifestyle to help the world get better and heal.
