Here Are The Best-Dressed Guests That Made Heads Turn At The 2021 Met Gala

A fundraising event, the Met Gala is also known as “fashion’s biggest event” as celebrities don extravagant designer dresses and tuxedos that are on-theme for that year.

For 2021, Gen Z celebrities Billie Eilish and Timothee Chalamet, tennis star Naomi Osaka, and poet Amanda Gorman co-chaired the event. And their chosen theme was “American Independence”–highlighting American fashion and sartorial spirit. (Read: These Fashion Idols Are Saving Earth—One ‘Ukay’ Find at a Time!)

We wanted to start with, like, royalty, you know. Or like, a cloak…like we’re in our shell, And then we break out of it a little bit more. It’s kind of like me when I got into the industry. No one knew who I was. It’s like I built this shield around myself… I came out, and this year, I feel like I REALLY came out,” Lil Nas X explained.

I think it represents this breakdown to this,” he said about the bodysuit which symbolized the “real him”.
