Make Your 50 Pesos Count With I Am MAD’s BIDA

Looking to share your blessings with an initiative that impacts countless lives and has long-term benefits?

Consider BIDA. Short for Bigay-Ayuda Para Sa Eskwela, it’s “a digital fundraising campaign to support select public schools in the Philippines in their adaptive learning pursuits in light of the ongoing pandemic,” says its Facebook post. Now on its second year, BIDA is a project of I Am MAD—or I Am Making a Difference, the volunteer organization that mobilizes and empowers Filipino youth to help future generations discover their dreams and passions, adopt a values-oriented mindset, and make a difference. “Our mission is to bring the Filipino youth together through volunteerism and help our younger generation to be passionate citizens and to start small as nation-builders,” says the non-profit organization.

50-day challenge

For its second year, BIDA launched its 50-day challenge (from August 5 to September 24) of raising P200,000 for 20 schools in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. With as little as P50, your pledge can, yes, Make A Difference, in the lives of students in La Union, Pangasinan, Nueva Ecija, Bataan, Romblon, Rizal, Metro Manila, Antique, Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Bukidnon, Davao Oriental, Davao City, and Zamboanga City. Well, guess what? BIDA reached its target amount in record time, prompting the campaign to “refresh” its goal: to come up with P400,000 for 40 schools by September 24.

It’s actually a doable goal. Based on its Donation Tracker, BIDA has surpassed the P300,000 mark as of September 6.

How to help?

Ready to help I Am MAD and BIDA reach this goal? Click this link to send your pledge. You can also donate through at least six banks, through GCash (09088176049—Erwin Dela Cruz), or through PayPal or your Debit or Credit Card.

And you can also send a pledge to a specific schoo. There’s a floating school in Datu Salibo, Maguindanao-Madrasah Darul Hijra Al-Islamia that needs two sets of chalkboard and seven wooden chairs for its 12 teachers and 320 students; the Sagmone Elementary School in Agusan del Sur needs pad paper and ballpens for its 180 students; and Tubo-Tubo Integrated School in Dinalupihan, Bataan, requests for 10 boxes of bond paper and 10 packs of laminating film for modules for its 150 students and seven teachers. Suddenly, your P50 doesn’t seem so insignificant after all. When pooled with other P50s, it can help send thousands of kids to school—the first of many stepping stones to giving themselves and their loved ones a good and decent life.
