PPCRV Launches 9-Month Novena Masses For Upcoming 2022 Elections

In a few months time, we will once again be electing a new president who will be leading the country for the next six years. With this, Catholic Church-backed poll watchdog, Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV), has launched a 9-month novena campaign for the 2022 elections.

Called the “Prayer Power Campaign 2022”, its goal is to “implore the aid of the Divine Providence for Filipinos to do their share,” according to the poll watchdog. The campaign began on September 9, and will end on May 9, 2022–the day of the 2022 National Elections. (Read: Catholic Group Urges New Voters to Register for the 2022 Elections)

In addition, the novena Masses will pray for the guidance and enlightenment of the Filipino voting population that they may be able to discern who to vote for.

Guided by basic values

“Let our every action in these elections be guided by these basic values for good citizenship so that those elected be exemplars of these values,” the PPCRV said.

A few months back, Bishop Broderick Pabillo of Taytay, Palawan shared similar sentiments regarding the elections. He told voters to ask themselves if they are satisfied with how the administration has led the country in the last five years, and especially now during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“This has an important meaning not only in our personal [lives], but for our country as well. Are you satisfied with the way they are running our country? Is this the best that we can achieve?” the bishop said. (Read: Hey, Catholics! Bishop Pabillo Has This Advise for the 2022 Elections)

“If you are content, then let us continue with the present administration. But if you believe that the Philippines can be more than this, that we would not always be the one lagging behind… then let us change the present system and those who are implementing it,” he added.

All the novena Masses are streamed on PPCRV’s official Facebook page and YouTube channel.

Voter’s Registration is also still ongoing and will last until September 30. You may check the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) website for full details.
